As more and more people become acquainted with the power of Feng Shui, they will look to others to help them create and set up their sacred sanctuaries. To assist in this process, a two-part training program has been designed to create a framework to help your professional expansion as well as your personal growth.
Carole J. Hyder is the founder and an instructor of The Wind and Water School of Feng Shui. Due to local demand, she began her training program in 1998, organizing material she had received from His Holiness Grandmaster Professor Thomas Lin Yun. It has developed into a two-part training program comprised of six modules based almost exclusively on his teachings. At least two hundred students have graduated from this program, benefiting both personally and professionally from the information. Whether attending her class in person or watching the videos as a correspondent student, Carole is the main instructor and mentor. Her practical, respectful approach to the material, sprinkled with stories and humor, provide the student with a valuable and intriguing experience. |

Embracing the Experience

The training is divided into two parts. The first part is entitled Embracing the Experience and is comprised of three modules; each module is three days long (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). During this phase of training, the student is given tools, corrections, adjustments, checklists, and any handouts relevant to their understanding of BTB Feng Shui. During the course of each module, the students accompany the instructor on a prearranged appointment to observe firsthand how Feng Shui principles can be applied in an environment. For many students, these appointments are the highlight of their training.

The one thing I would never change about this training program
are the appointments with Carole.
It would take years to
learn Feng Shui without seeing it come to life
when it is related so skillfully to a client. - M.R. (2003) |

Each module of the Embracing phase occurs three months apart, allowing integration time and time to review and ponder the material. This break also gives each student a chance to facilitate three practice appointments. These practice appointments enable a student to discover their vocabulary, learn how to approach a consultation, and develop their confidence. The appointments are written up and submitted to Carole, who now has a chance to see how the student's understanding and comprehension of the material is being applied, and to create some opportunities for invaluable personal feedback. Every student is required to submit a total of six practice appointments by the end of their Embracing training.

TUITION

The investment for Embracing the Experience is $675 per module (total - $2,025 for three modules) for students starting in February. The investment is $720 per module (total - $2,160 for three modules) for students starting in September and after.

Deepening the Experience |

The second phase of training is called Deepening the Experience, and is also comprised of three modules, but only two days long (Saturday and Sunday). During Deepening, the emphasis is on the 5 Elements, the I Ching and determining ming gua numbers. Although not typically part of BTB Feng Shui, Carole's philosophy is that the exploration of the ming gua numbers supports and enhances its teachings. Students are required to facilitate four appointments by the end of their Deepening phase, using the 5 Elements as their guide and submitting a 5 Element assessment to each client. Blueprints and photos are required for each of these appointments. Additionally, each student must submit an independent project where they follow a client through their process of initiating change, documenting with photos, drawings, and/or blueprint changes. |

Correspondence Format

The entire training is also available as a correspondence course, using videos or DVD's as the medium. In Embracing, there are fifteen videos, three of which are appointments the student observes as Carole and a client privately discuss their situation. The videos are a combination of taped experiences in the classroom and separate comments by Carole, guiding the material along or explaining the next step. During Deepening, a correspondent student will view ten videos covering comparable material from the classroom course. Each correspondent student, however, must travel to Minnesota, at their convenience and at an agreed-upon time, to attend at least one of the modules in person. All other modules can be viewed privately by the student. A correspondent student is mentored regularly by the Carole throughout the training via e-mail transmissions or phone conversations or both.

Final Thoughts

The format of the program enables students to be exposed to Feng Shui material, integrate it in their own lives, and use it to help others. The students can then return to the classroom to process their findings and the results or contact Carole to discuss their observations. Because the classroom course takes approximately 18 months to complete, the students support each other and often develop long-lasting friendships. It gives them an expanse of time to work with the material, get feedback, ask questions, and attain clarity. Practice blueprints that are done in class over the course of the entire training support their learning and provide them references if dealing with a difficult layout.
Although Carole's training was originally propelled by local demand, her student base is now international. She insists on keeping the classes to small enrollments (10 - 12) in order to get to know each student and to be able to monitor their progress. Her vision statement provides the underpinning for The Wind and Water School of Feng Shui: to be a bridge of inspiration, over which she invites her students to cross, facilitating their learning and their growth. |

APPLICATION PROCESS

If you feel this program fits your goals and interests, e-mail Carole to request a Policy Manual, which, among other things, will provide you the complete syllabus for your review. You must then submit a written application for consideration into Embracing the Experience. This is a letter which you can mail or e-mail to Carole outlining 1)Your reasons for applying, 2)Your Feng Shui experience (classes, books you’ve read, results you’ve had with Feng Shui---no experience is required),and 3)A brief biography. The letter must arrive by the deadline date indicated. Carole will notify you of the next step and will accompany you as you begin or continue your Feng Shui journey.
